Thank you for scheduling a consultation with The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates.

You hereby agree to the following terms and conditions of the initial consultation:

Purpose

The purpose of an initial consultation is for attorneys at The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates to (1) learn about your legal needs; (2) identify your potential legal options; and (3) determine the next steps in the process, as appropriate.  If a case is possible, a quote will be sent to you by email after the consultation.  The attorney will not discuss fees and costs during the consultation.

It’s not possible to provide a definitive legal opinion or legal advice as to how you should proceed in an initial consultation, as we can’t fully assess a legal matter with the limited information available during a consultation. Any analysis provided during an initial consultation is only preliminary, as we will not have enough information to fully evaluate your legal issues at that time

Engagement Letter Required

An initial consultation does not establish an attorney-client relationship but is a limited-scope service provided to give you information regarding your legal matter and to help you determine whether you want to retain The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates to provide legal services to you, your family members, or employees of your organization. If you wish to retain The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates following the initial consultation, and if we determine that we are able to represent you, we will prepare a letter outlining the terms of our engagement to be signed by both parties. At the conclusion of the consultation, there is no obligation for you to retain The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates, and we do not have an obligation to provide services to you.

Confidentiality

Any information and documents that you provide to us at the consultation will remain confidential, except as authorized by you or otherwise provided under the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.  You hereby agree that recordation of the initial consultation is strictly prohibited.  The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates does not consent to any such recordation, whether by video or audio means.  You also agree to disclose the identity of anyone who is listening or present during the initial consultation at the outset of the consultation session.

Cost of Consultation and Redemption

The fee for a 20-minute consultation is set forth at the outset of the scheduling process.  The consultation fee is non-refundable for a no-show or if canceled within one business day before the time of the consultation. If you retain The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates as your attorneys, the consultation fee will be redeemed as a credit on your first invoice if you (1) return the signed engagement letter and (2) make any payments required by the engagement letter (such as deposits into the firm’s trust account or flat fee payments) within 30 days of the consultation.
