July 2015 Visa Bulletin Analysis for Family-Sponsored (F) Immigrant Visas

Below is our monthly analysis of the State Department’s Visa Bulletin regarding family-sponsored immigration. These categories have priority date cutoffs, except for the following, which are in the “Immediate Relative” category:

More dates freeze this month, including most Mexican ones. There was even more retrogression. It is unclear if improvement is forthcoming.

(F1): Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 and up) of U.S. citizens

This category is mixed. The Mexican date failed to move at all, but the other dates improve slightly. After the five-year retrogression, the Filipino date crawls forward by two weeks. Also, the rest of the world’s date may be done moving further into the past with its one-month advancement.

(F2-A): Spouses and Children (Under 21) of Permanent Residents

After some uncertainty last month, both dates move forward by just over one month.

(F2-B): Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 and up) of Permanent Residents

This category did a little better than it did last month. The Mexican date is frozen after a series of very weak advancements, but the Filipino date slightly accelerated. Further, the rest of the world’s date moves by a month, as opposed to last month’s standstill.

(F3): Married Sons and Daughters (21 and Up) of U.S. Citizens

After last month’s total standstill for this category, any movement is nice, though more was hoped for. The Mexican and Filipino dates move by just one week each, and the rest of the world’s moves by three.

(F4): Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens

The Mexican date is frozen here as well. In this case, it comes after a three month retrogression. The rest of the world’s date confusingly retrogresses two weeks this month after last month’s better-than-expected multi-month advancement. The only good news here is that the Filipino date avoids falling further into the past again.
