Cases We Handle

Because of our extensive, focused experience, we can assist with virtually any aspect of immigration law. Our goal is to help you understand all your options and know what to expect from the process.

Come to The Law Firm of Shihab & Associates for assistance with any of the following matters:

  • Visitor visas. If your goal is to obtain temporary status in the U.S. for business, medical treatment, tourism, or a visit with friends or family, you may qualify for a visitor visa.
  • Lawful permanent residence. We can help you explore your options for obtaining permanent status (a green card) in the United States. This may involve adjustment of status (if you are already here lawfully) or consular processing (applying for an immigrant visa from abroad).
  • Family-based immigration. If your family member is a lawful permanent resident or a U.S. citizen, they may be able to sponsor you for a green card.
  • Employment-based immigration. If you have a bona fide job offer from a U.S. employer, the employer may be able to sponsor you for a green card. If you qualify as an immigrant investor, you won’t need a sponsor because you’ll be able to self-petition.
  • Colleges and university immigration. Some students can obtain green cards after completing a qualifying course of study in the U.S.
  • Citizenship and naturalization. Lawful permanent residents can apply for citizenship through naturalization after a certain number of years of living in the U.S. with a valid green card (and meeting all other requirements).
  • T and U visas. If you suffered from human trafficking or another serious crime, you may be able to obtain a temporary T or U visa, which could allow you to become a lawful permanent resident.
  • DACA. Undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children can generally qualify for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which grants temporary, renewable status.
  • Asylum. Individuals who cannot return to their countries of origin for fear of violence or persecution may be able to obtain lawful status in the U.S. as asylees. They can eventually adjust their status to lawful permanent residence.
  • Deportation and removal proceedings. If you are found inadmissible or removal, you may have several potential deportation defenses (e.g. waivers, asylum, adjustment of status, etc.).
  • Litigation and appeals. Some application denials from USCIS and other immigration agencies can be appealed. Immigrants might also find themselves in court for violations of status or other issues.

Our Lewis Center immigration attorneys apply maximum effort and dedication to each case we handle. The result is a proven track record of success, consistent awards and recognition, and a reputation as an exemplary law firm.
